Talented musicians perform at the District Solo & Ensemble Music Festival

Due to the pandemic, last year’s event was held virtually, but this year the talented musicians came together for an incredible music festival. Junior, middle and high school students performed vocal and instrumental solos, duets, trios and small ensembles in front of a judge.

Organizers say it’s an experience you have to see – and hear to believe.

“It’s one of those events where you can tell the students about it, but they really don’t understand how important it is and how fun it is until they’re here,” said Jennifer Robbins, director of the senior high school orchestra. “You can show him the people practicing in the background, they can mingle with students from different schools. And just by seeing themselves doing all the things they normally do in class, they can see the work on that scene. It’s so important and they don’t realize it until then.”

The festival brought together students from a number of area schools, including Northwestern High School, Superior High School, and Superior Middle School. Senior High School Orchestra Director Amy Eichers served as the festival director.
