North West’s Gothic phase has officially entered the pages of vogue. Or at least the magazine’s website. Kim Kardashian’s eldest daughter appeared in the magazine for the latest Kardashian cover — she also styled her three younger siblings for the family photoshoot — but it’s in the accompanying video interview that his dark side really shone through.

In a slice of vogueIn the “Objects of Affection” series, Kardashian welcomed the magazine to her cavernous, cream-colored home (aka the haunted mansion) to share some of her most prized possessions, including North’s very emo artwork. .

“The first object of my affection are my daughter North’s paintings,” Kim says in the video, showing off some of North’s paintings, including the 2021 landscape that sparked an online debate about the artistry of the ( then) 7 years. old. Some of the art, like this landscape, features pastel colors and brightly colored flowers, but the real star is the charcoal drawing that Kim proudly holds at the end. “North recently stayed home and had COVID, so this was her drawing that she did in her bedroom,” Kim says.

The design features a floating head with dead and empty eyes, space buns, and a long snake-like tongue sticking out of its mouth. “Maybe it was just his emo mood,” Kardashian says before quickly moving on. If “emo” means “nightmare” then, yes, this is a very emo piece of art.

North’s ’emo mood’ art quickly made the rounds on social media, and while some might say it’s the only evidence needed to confirm that Kim’s house is, indeed, haunted, to me that looks exactly like how I imagine COVID feels. Plus, North has been a goth for at least a year now, so is it really surprising that she draws a demonic head in charcoal?

At least North’s “emo mood” design matches the rest of Kardashian’s low-key home. Its walls and furniture may be “cream,” but its basketball court and cars are all an understated gray, almost a shade of charcoal. Kim says these tones are “soothing,” but, I dunno, her whole house looks pretty emo to me. North has to get it from somewhere, right?
