Join the 22nd Annual American Wind Band Scholarship Competition

The American Wind Band continues to inspire talented young musicians with its 22nd annual scholarship competition.

The scholarships are awarded to encourage the private study of music or participation in a band camp.

Only the top performing eighth grade and high school students are eligible. One high school finalist will receive a $1,800 scholarship and another will receive a $1,600 scholarship.

An eighth-grade runner-up will receive a $1,500 scholarship and the runner-up a $1,100 scholarship.

In the two-step audition process, contestants will provide an unaccompanied audio recording of only their solo for the first round.

They must receive applications and registrations no later than Friday, March 11. Late applications will not be accepted.

Based on the first round registrations, the scholarship committee will select applicants to participate in the second round.

Round two will be an in-person performance on Saturday, April 2 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 4501 Main St. in Downers Grove.
