Is emo country a thing? Decide for yourself when you run the new version through the Give & Take. This solo vehicle by Gibran Colbert, better known these days as the drummer for beloved Orlando pop-punk group Expert Timing, has found a new lease of life from the pandemic. Great break, which might well describe this project, is his first collection in nearly six years.
Yet another kid in his 40s, the five-cut EP was recorded using Colbert’s iPhone, which is fitting and perhaps even taking advantage of the circumstances. Simple, unvarnished, and shameless, the songs are pure serious emo filtered through an earthy, rustic musical lens. It’s on the Give & Take Bandcamp.

Body shop is the artistic union of the powerful couple of musicians Kit Dee and Sam Crow, the respective fronts of the groups of Orlando Red Rodeo and Spoon Dogs. Their recent FL3SH WORLD EP is what happens when these two are locked together during a pandemic.
Self-recorded on eight tracks and released by the Tallahassee RIP Records label, FL3SH WORLD is a six pack of lean, opiate punk songs reduced to their essence. It is a bewitching affair that runs on a thread.
The EP is their first duo, but Body Shop becomes a group. Filled with members of AOL and Problem Child, they just had their first full ensemble practice last week, so look for them. FL3SH WORLD is available on pink cassettes on Bandcamp from RIP Records.
